Best sports betting sites for crypto
A crypto sportsbook is an ordinary sportsbook with a different cashier. The coin moves fast, but the book still decides when it pays you, at what rate and after what checks. Those are the things to judge, and the reviews below that mention crypto are worth reading with them in mind.
The cashier, not the coin
How a crypto deposit and payout work, step by step, is on the crypto payments page, along with the ways players lose money in transit. This page is about the book on the other end.
Start with which coins it takes and on which networks, because a coin it doesn't list can't be credited. Then the minimum deposit, the minimum payout and the fee on each. A book that takes a small deposit and won't pay out below a large figure has made it easy to get in and awkward to get out.
The rate
Most books turn your coin into dollars when it arrives and back into coin when they pay you, and the rate they use is theirs. That rate is a price like any other, and the gap between it and the market is a cost you pay twice.
Say a book converts at 1.5 percent below the market rate. On a $1,000 deposit that is $15. On a $2,000 payout it is $30. And neither would be listed as a fee. I'd check the book's rate against the market at the moment of a deposit, once, and write down what I found. Some books keep your balance in the coin instead, and then the price swings are yours while you bet, which is a second bet you didn't ask for.
Payout speed claims
A crypto book will often say it pays in minutes, and the network may well move the coin that quickly once it is sent. The question is how long the request waits before the book sends it. That wait is the book's approval queue, and the book sets it, not the network.
So I'd read "fast payouts" as a claim about the coin, not the book. Test it: ask for a small payout early, before you have a big balance, and time it from request to arrival. One payout tells you more than the advertising.
Verification still applies
Paying in crypto doesn't mean the book won't ask who you are. Most books can ask for identification before a payout, whatever the method, and a book that took your deposit without a question may still ask for documents when you win. Read the KYC terms before you deposit, and send what they want early, not on the day of a big win.
Payments that can't be undone
A crypto payment can't be reversed. That protects the book against a player who disputes a deposit after he loses, and I understand why books like it. It protects you not at all. If the book slow-pays or never pays, there is no card company to ask for your money back.
That makes the book's record on paying more important here, not less. A book with a long history of paying winners is worth more to a crypto bettor than one with a bigger bonus, and crypto bonuses often carry their own rollover, so read it before you count the money.
Where you live
Whether you may bet with a book that takes crypto depends on where you live, and using a coin doesn't change that. The tax side depends on where you live too, and that one is for an accountant.
Keep in the account what you need to bet with and take the rest out. A crypto deposit takes a minute, which is a good reason to decide your bankroll before the first one and not after a bad night.
