Betting sites that accept credit cards
A card is the easiest way to put money into a book and one of the hardest ways to get it back out. Before you type the number in, find out what the deposit costs and how the book will pay you, because it is almost never back to the same card.
What a card deposit costs
Many offshore books charge for card deposits, and the fee is a percentage. Bovada's first card deposit is free, but later ones carry fees of 15.9 percent or more, says its site. betDSI puts 7 percent of every card deposit into a fee balance, says its cashier page. On a $200 deposit at 15.9 percent, $31.80 is gone before your first bet. I wouldn't pay that to get into any book, when the same book usually takes crypto for nothing.
Your card's issuer can add its own charge too, because many banks treat a deposit at a betting site as a cash advance, with a fee and interest from the first day. Ask your bank before you find out on the statement.
Getting paid
People miss this part. An offshore book takes your card but usually can't pay winnings back to it, so it pays you some other way: crypto, a bank wire, a check or a money transfer. I'd want to know which before the deposit, not after the win. The withdrawals page explains why, and what each method costs. Before you deposit, look at the book's withdrawal list, not its deposit list, and make sure there's a method on it you can actually use.
Expect paperwork too. A book that took a card often wants a copy of it, sometimes a signed form, before it pays. The KYC page covers what books ask for and why.
Declines and chargebacks
Card deposits at offshore books get declined often, because many card issuers block payments coded as gambling. A decline isn't a problem with the book. A chargeback is a different matter: disputing a deposit you made and lost with will get the account closed at most books, and the balance with it. If a book doesn't pay you, use its dispute process, not your bank.
Reading the list
The list below shows the books we've reviewed whose sites say they take credit or debit cards, A to Z. A book whose review doesn't list its payment methods is left out. Each row quotes the payment line from its review, so you can see what else it takes.
Your side of it
Never bet on credit you couldn't pay off this month. I'd use a card, if at all, for a small first deposit to test the book, and move to a cheaper method once the book has paid me once. If you deposit by crypto instead, the crypto payments page explains how that works.
