Betsoft: the story-slot studio

Betsoft makes slots, table games and video poker for online casinos, and has done since 2006. Its newest line is a run of story-driven slots it calls THE Series. Here is what the company says about itself, and where it says it.

Who they are

Betsoft says on its about page that it was founded in 2006. The company behind the site is Betsoft Gaming LTD, the name on its copyright line. The site doesn't say where the company is headquartered or who owns it, and I won't guess. Its older press releases carry a Valletta, Malta dateline, such as one from January 2019, but a dateline isn't an ownership record.

One corporate change is on its own record. In June 2017 Betsoft announced that a Maltese company, Digital Software Limited, would be the exclusive distributor of its games, holding a licence from Malta's regulator, and that it had withdrawn an application for an Alderney licence. That is the kind of detail worth knowing: the name on the game and the company that supplies it to the casino aren't always the same.

What they make

The about page describes the portfolio as "slots, table games, video poker, and specialty titles", and counts "200+ RNG games". The homepage shows games such as THE Collector, Sweet Pop 1000, Phoenix Inferno and Good Girl Bad Girl 2.

THE Series is the line it's pushing now. Betsoft launched it on 12 January 2026 as story-driven slots built on what it calls "proven, data-backed game mechanics", starting with THE King of Social Media, THE Jealous Ex, THE Governor, THE Oil Barons and THE Neighbor Wars. (I read "data-backed" as mechanics already shown to keep people playing. That's the business, and I'd rather a studio said it out loud.)

A story on the reels doesn't change the price of a spin. What I'd look at before any of these is the game's return to player, which sits in the help or paytable screen, and how often it pays, as the slots guide explains. The RTP guide says why a 96 percent game can still take your whole session in an hour.

Technical features it states

The homepage says the games are "developed with a mobile-first approach" for "seamless performance and consistency across devices". It doesn't name the technology. On fairness, the site links a 2017 RNG report from the testing lab Quinel, and its responsible gaming page names Quinel, GLI and iTech Labs as the labs that verify its games.

Licences and certifications it lists

Betsoft's responsible gaming page says it is "licenced in various jurisdictions including Malta and Romania" and certified "by the Malta Gaming Authority and Romania Gambling Authority as well as in Italy and Spain". The site footer shows the logo of ADM, Italy's customs and monopolies agency, which regulates gambling there. The 2019 release said it had held a Malta Gaming Authority licence since 2014.

The site gives no licence numbers. I tried the Malta Gaming Authority's register, but it is a search tool that didn't return entries to us, so the Malta licence here is as Betsoft states it, not as we confirmed it. A certification for a game in Italy tells you the game was tested for that market. It tells you nothing about whether a casino may offer it to you.

Where you'll find it

Of the casinos we have reviewed, Bookie.ag Casino shows Betsoft games among its own. Whether you can play any of them depends on where you live: the licences above are where Betsoft may supply games, not where a casino may take your money. If you play, set the loss before you start, and the responsible gambling page is there if it stops being fun.
