Weekend Soccer Preview - February 28 - March 2

By dmmd98

I wonder what it must feel like to be a Schalke player this week. After getting smashed by Real Madrid 6-1 at home in the Champions League they now get to face Bayern Munich in the league. Talk about a week Schalke players most likely will like to forget. With Bayern Munich 19 points ahead in the Bundesliga we will shift gears to focus on the Real Madrid match against Atletico Madrid.

Life is pretty great for Real Madrid at the moment as they are surging to the top of La Liga while FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have stumbled for a bit. All credit to Atletico Madrid for their performances this season. Going back to last year Atletico had been a well-oiled machine who has gone toe to toe and even defeated many of the top teams including Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final and even earlier this season in the league.

Things however have been clicking for Real Madrid and even without Cristiano Ronaldo, who was suspended for the last three league matches the likes of Karim Benzema and Jese have stepped it up. Now that Ronaldo is back Real Madrid are poised to make a run at the La Liga crown and if they overcome Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon the only major game standing in Real Madrid’s way is their second game against Barcelona later on this season.

Pick of the Weekend – Real Madrid/Atletico Madrid over 2.5 -118
