The Bears started the season 5-1, but are now in a freefall losing three straight. Still, there is something Coach Rick likes about Chicago, but let’s see where my Vikings Bears free pick goes tonight.
It might have something to do with Bears head coach Matt Nagy’s Vulcan death grip on the Vikings. Since Nagy’s hiring in 2018, he is 4-0 against Minnesota.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has been running wild on NFL defenses this season. It has been over a year since Cook has faced the Bears and Vikings fans should take note. Chicago held Cook to just 35 yards on 14 carries that last time these two teams squared off.

Cook averages 122.6 yards per game and an impressive 6.0 yards per carry. Closer analysis of Cook’s stats reveal that he has taken advantage of some pretty poor run defenses.
In five games against teams ranked 15th or worse in defensive DVOA, Cook averages 146 yards per game. In two games against top-15 teams in defensive DVOA, Cook has run for just 64 yards a game.
Remember, Chicago held Tennessee star and reigning NFL rushing leader Derrick Henry to just 68 yards on 21 carries last week. What they do against Cook will be the difference in today’s Vikings Bears free pick. Chicago ranks seventh in run defense DVOA, so expect the Bears to hold Cook in check.
Vikings vs. Bears Recent Head-to-Head History
Then, there is Minnesota’s overall lack of success against the Bears, especially under head coach Mike Zimmer. The Vikings are just 3-15 straight up against the Bears when playing at Soldier Field.
In games at Soldier Field, Zimmer’s Vikings are just 1-6 ATS and Minnesota has only covered the spread three times since 2003. Nagy, with four wins over the Vikings, is also 3-1 ATS. That includes a 2-0 ATS mark in games played at Soldier Field.
Yes, the Bears have lost three straight, but this is the perfect opportunity to get back on the winning track. Consider this as well – the Bears are 15-8-1 ATS as a home underdog since 2015.
