Toronto Maple Leafs +500

If you know any Leaf fans, then you’re sure to know that they are near the top of the standings and are currently the favorite to be sipping from the Cup in June. The Maple Leafs are getting it done on both sides of the puck, and are the only team in the top 5 of both goals scored per game (3) and goals against (5).

The arrival of John Tavares seems to have been just what this team loaded with young talent needed, and if they can continue to get solid goaltending from Frederik Anderson, who is 1st in wins, 3rd in save percentage and 4th in goals against average, the Leafs have a great chance to win their first Cup since 1967.

Nashville Predators +600

I just said the Leafs were the only team in the top 5 in both the goals for and goals against lists, but the Preds are very close. They are #1 in goals against per game and 6th in goals for, helping them to the top of the standings with 29 points.

After losing to the Penguins in the Cup Finals two years ago and getting taken out in the second round last year by the Jets, Nashville have the squad to make another long run in the playoffs this year. They recently put P.K. Subban and Viktor Arvidsson on the IR, but if they can get healthy, there could be no stopping them, showing why top online sportsbooks have them a favorite to win it all.

Winnipeg Jets +850

The Winnipeg Jets remind me a lot of the Leafs with a lot of young talent that play well on both ends of the ice. After getting ousted by the Vegas Golden Knights during their Cinderella run to the Stanley Cup Finals in the conference championship last season, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them back there again this season.

Veterans Blake Wheeler and Dustin Byfuglien help stabilize their young stars like Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers, and if Patrik Laine can return to form and get continued top-end goalie play from Connor Hellebuyck, there may be no stopping the Jets.

Tampa Bay Lightning +650

The Lightning share the league lead with the Predators with 29 points, but just lost a huge piece of the puzzle for a while when goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy was put on the IR with a foot fracture. He’s expected to miss 4-6 weeks, and have the firepower to win enough games to stay in the hunt.

Brayden Point is having a great start to his third season, and currently leads the Bolts with 24 points, one more than Nikita Kucherov and four more than a relatively unknown Yanni Gourde. Is this the year they put it all together after not making it past the 3rd round since their Stanley Cup Finals loss to the Blackhawks in 2014-15?

Buffalo Sabres +3500

Yes, this is a huge long shot, but if Jack Eichel can stay healthy this season, and Jeff Skinner continues to produce at the pace he’s on, the Sabres could make a splash after not making the playoffs since 2010-11.

They are currently on a 5-game winning streak, including wins over the aforementioned Lightning and Jets. If the Sabres can get a little more help on the offensive side of the puck, they have the defense to be able to make some noise in the second season.

Pittsburgh Penguins +1350

Although they are currently last in the East, any team with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel needs consideration. A team like the Pens 20 games in is exactly the value you’re looking for.

Despite their 7-8-3 record, the Penguins find themselves 7th in the odds to win the Stanley Cup. This is a testament to how good they can actually be, and may be worth throwing a could bucks on.
