TNF | Kansas City Chiefs vs. Oakland Raiders

By Brad Mullins

Who comes into this one the more desperate team? For the Raiders it is desperation time indeed and there are a couple of factors when considering this matchup. Not only is this game a matchup of at least one team desperately needing a win, this one is about pride. These two both get up for each other and this contest tonight will be no exception. This AFC West rivalry means something to both the Raiders and the Chiefs. Forget about the Raiders problems, forget about the Chiefs embarrassing loss at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers. This one is about pride and who wants it most in front of a national TV audience on Thursday Night Football for Week 7.

The Oakland Raiders win tonight’s game if…

…they spread the wealth around. They must establish the running game early and Marshawn Lynch must bust out for a huge game. It’s time for Marshawn to put up or shut up. Is it really “beast mode” or is Marshawn all talk and no action? Tonight will tell the tale of the tape for both Oakland and Lynch.

The Chiefs one achilles heel, is stopping the run. The Oakland Raiders had better be prepared to take advantage of this key element in tonight’s game. After losing 4 in a row, the Raiders are desperate and in need of a victory in a bad way. Jack Del Rio must have a solid game plan tonight and it must involve Lynch. The mindset needs to be that of gaining 100 yards and more on the ground.

Here is a guarantee. Derek Carr will not beat the Chiefs. He is still recouping from a broken bone in his back and who really knows how effective he can be? They say he’s ready. Is he really? For the Raiders the looming question mark remains. Can they pass on anybody and will they pass tonight on the Chiefs? It’s highly doubtful that they can come up with an effective air attack, thus, bringing this conversation full circle, to Marshawn Lynch.

The Raiders are currently a 3-point home dog with the total set at 46.5. Be sure to check out our NFL scores and odds page for updated lines.

No running game for the Raiders tonight; no victory tonight.

The Kansas City Chiefs win this game tonight if…

…Alex Smith, Tyreek Hill, and Kareem Hunt, all have big games. The Chiefs have big offensive weapons and the Raiders are struggling defensively. The Chiefs are a second half team, it usually takes them some time to get the steam built up, but when they do, watch out! They can put up points in a hurry just as they did in the waning moments against the Patriots, Redskins, and the Texans. If the Chiefs come out early in this one and establish a ground attack that works and if they protect Alex, then this will be a lopsided affair. The Raiders must check the Chiefs early and often or this gets ugly.

Tonight game will be a fun ride, both in the air and on the ground. Buckle up because there could be surprises along the way. Marshawn is due his yards and tonight could be the night. Remember; this game is about pride for the Raiders and they need this game in a big way or they are looking at sharing cellar space with the Chargers.
