TNF Free Pick - Raiders at 49ers
Although this Thursday Night Football matchup looks like a stinker, don’t be surprised if you see an inspired effort from both teams.
Oakland Raiders (1-6, 2-5 ATS) at San Francisco 49ers (1-7, 2-6 ATS)
When: 8:20PM ET, Thursday, November 1st, 2018
Where: Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, California
TV Coverage: FOX, NFL Network
Current Line: SF -3 Total: 45.5
The last time these two met was in December of 2014 in Oakland, a game I attended. The Raiders finished with 3 wins that season, while the 49ers went .500 at 8-8. The Raiders won that game 24-13, and let me tell you, it felt like it was the Bay Area’s version of the Super Bowl.
Even though this is one of “those” TNF games that looks to be one we switch off at halftime, the rivalry between these two teams will make for a great game. The biggest problem may be if Jon Gruden actually wants to win or not, as he is clearly going for the #1 overall draft pick after trading away their best defensive player and one of there better offensive players.
Gruden and the Raiders have managed only one win in 7 tries in 2018, a 45-42 OT victory over the Browns. So that makes 2 wins between the two teams with the 49ers getting their only win in Week 2 against the Lions. But that was before they lost QB Jimmy G.
San Francisco has been decimated by injuries, not only losing their quarterback, but also losing their #1 running back Jerick McKinnon in training camp. Oakland has had a few injuries of their own, but like I said above, their biggest losses came at the hands of Gruden, trading top players for draft picks.
I know you came here for a pick, but if you read any of my stuff, you know I like to preach selectivity and patience. Most weeks, even if I am on the fence on a pick, I’ll make it anyways, but for this one, my play is to layoff on don’t bet on it. Sit back and enjoy it. But gun-to-the-head pick, I’ll go Raiders.
The Reds picked up a big win over one of the best teams in baseball last night, and definitely a team that comes in near or above the top-five in most power rankings. Last night was a close game and yet another run line loss by the Astros, who happen to be 38-34 against the Read More…
Throw out the fact that the San Francisco Giants are in last place in the National League West Division. The Giants-Dodgers rivalry is one of the best in baseball. The two teams meet for the fourth time this season beginning a four-game series on Monday night. If you think just because the Giants are in Read More…
Those of you that say there’s nothing to bet this time of year need to take a better look at your betting board. There’s a lot more than Major League Baseball, including other levels of baseball, NASCAR, boxing, MMA, about 200 soccer games every day, tennis and rugby, just to name a few. Today I’m Read More…
