PGA TOUR Picks: 2020 RSM Classic

The PGA TOUR keeps rolling on, but are staying in Georgia this weekend where our PGA TOUR picks come from this week.

Another Masters is in the books, and congrats to Dustin Johnson on his second major and first green jacket. His win was quite anticlimactic after finishing the 1st round atop the leaderboard and never looked back.

By Sunday, DJ was strutting around Augusta with a 5-stroke lead, and held that lead through the end. He shows why he’s the number 1 golfer in the world, and showed me I should never doubt him.

My picks did ok, hitting on some Top 5 and Top 10 prop bets. Four of my 5 guys finished in the Top 20, with Justin Thomas (4) and Brooks Koepka (T7) finishing Top 10. Go check out my 2020 Masters picks here.

This week we have the RSM Classic from Sea Island Resort on Saint Simons Island in Georgia. This event began play in 2010, when it was called the McGladrey Classic. The name was changed to the RSM Classic in 2015. This event has saw 10 different winners, with four of the last 6 events needing a playoff to determine the winner.

Here are the Top 7 favorites to win the 2020 PGA Masters outright at America’s Bookie:

Webb Simpson +850

Tyrrell Hatton +1550

Sungjae Im +1550

Tommy Fleetwood +1750

Harris English +2300

Russell Henley +2300

Matthew Fitzpatrick +2300

PGA TOUR Picks to Win the 2020 RSM Classic

Webb Simpson +850

If you follow my PGA TOUR picks, you know I’m never a chalk guy, but this week’s research kept seeing Webb.

Coming off a T10 finish at The Masters, Webb is primed for his 8th PGA TOUR victory this weekend. In his 4 events since the U.S. Open, Simpson hasn’t finished worse than T17, with a T8 at the U.S. Open and the aforementioned T10 at The Masters.

Even furthering Simpson’s potential success at the Sea Island Golf Club, the last 2 years, he’s finished 2nd (2019) and 3rd (2018). He lost in a playoff last year to Tyler Duncan.

There’s another stat I uncovered leading me to put Simpson on the top of my list this week. He is the all-time leader in strokes gained at the RSM Classic (McGladrey Classic). It’s obvious this course sets up well for him, and even though he’s the favorite, a $200 wager will net you $1700.

I like Webb Simpson as a 2-unit play, as well as a 1-unit play on a Top 5 finish.

Russell Henley +2300

+2300 at America’s Bookie are great odds for Russell Henly this week. He wasn’t in the field at the Masters, but his last seven events have seen him finish in the Top 10 four times, with his worst finish in those 7 starts being T29.

His efforts see him #58 on the OWGR and 22nd on the FedExCup rankings. Henley has missed the cut here the last couple years, but he has found success at the Sea Island Golf Club. Between 2014 and 2016, he had 3 consecutive Top 10 finishes, as well as leading his Georgia Bullgods to the conference title in 2010.

Consider Russell Henley a 1-unit play this weekend.

Sungjae Im +1550

You can tell this dude just loves to play golf. Im has played in 7 events since the U.S. Open in September, making the cut in all 7. Im, along with Cameron Smith, were the only ones with a chance to keep pace with DJ last week at The Masters.

Im is now the world’s 18th ranked golfer and is a solid 16th on the FedExCup rankings. If he can better his Strokes Gained: Around the Green stats, the rest of his game has been solid enough for him to get his second PGA TOUR win.

I have Sungjae Im as a 1-unit play at the 2020 RSM Classic for my PGA TOUR picks.
