PGA 2020 Masters picks

What more can we say than it’s Masters Week?! And of course, I am bringing you my 2020 Masters picks to win the fabled event.

A lot of folks know this event as the true start of spring, normally being played the first full week of April at Augusta National. The Masters brings out the best of the best, and the best in the best, the likes of which give golfer fans shivers at the thought of driving in Magnolia Lane and walking around Augusta.

2020 offers a great Masters field, as the majority of the World’s best golfers will be in attendance. The Masters is always the 1st major of the year, but in this year we call 2020, it’s the last major of the year.

I hate to downplay the importance of The Masters, but I have to talk about last week’s event. If you go check out my Vivint Houston Open picks, you’ll see I had a great week.

Although I didn’t hit the winner, I had Matsuyama (T2), Koepka (T5) and Hatton (T7), all of who finished Top 10. If you were following my premium PGA picks over at Action Sports Picks, you could have cashed in on some of my Top 5 and Top 10 finishes wagers.

It will be interesting to see the differences between an April Augusta and a November Augusta. Or, if everything will be the same.

Top Picks to Win the 2020 PGA The Masters

Brooks Koepka +1350

You gotta love getting Brooks Koepka at +1350 at a major! The guy is a fn’ beast and is a true gargoyle at majors! There’s a reason why he’s on top of my 2020 Masters picks.

Koepka has 7 wins on the PGA TOUR, with four of them being majors. He hasn’t won at Augusta yet, but he finished T2 at the last Masters in 2019. Koepka was in a group with Dustin Johnson and Xander Schauffele that finished 1 stroke behind Tiger.

Brooks did have the inside track last week at the Vivint Houston Open. He acted as a player consult to course architect Tom Doak at Memorial Park Golf Course for the redesign. However, his weekend of 65-65 shows me he is in perfect form to get his first green jacket.

After taking some time to nurse a knee injury, he played well at the PGA and Wyndham Championships. On top of that, he shot a couple rounds of 68 at the CJ Cup a few weeks ago. It looks like he’s now over the knee injury that slowed him down, and he still possess everything needed to get around Augusta low.

I really like Brooks Koepka in this spot, and am making him a 2-unit play to win it all. As well, he’s good bet to finish Top 5 and Top 10.

Hideki Matsuyama +2300

Just like Brooks, I love Hideki at +2300. The 28-year-old from Japan is currently the No. 18 on the OWGR, and is showing his recent form at #15 on the FedEx Cup rankings.

Matsuyama has yet to win a major on the PGA TOUR. His best result at a major was a T2 finish at the U.S. Open in 2017. His best finish at The Masters was a 5 in 2015. Since 2015, Matsuyama has finished T7, T11, 19 and T32 between 2016 and 2019, respectively.

He finished T2 at the Vivint last week, carding a sizzling 63 to close out the tournament on Sunday. His all-around game consists of everything you need to win at Augusta, and like his chances this weekend.

Consider Hideki a 1-unit play at the Masters this week, as well as a 1-unit play as a Top 10 finisher.

Tyrrell Hatton +2500

There are a couple trains of thought when betting the Masters. You always have to look at horses for the courses, but recent play has to work itself in there somewhere.

Hatton has now been on my PGA picks list for 3 weeks. His T7 at the Houston Open last week saw him jump from No. 10 on the OWGR to No. 9.

This will be Hatton’s 4th time playing in The Masters. He missed the cut his first year, in 2017, but finished T44 in 2018 and T56 in 2019. It is important to note though, Hatton wasn’t the same golfer then, and definitely wasn’t in the Top 10 of golfers worldwide.

Our friends over at FantasyNational.com have him ranked 3rd in their model over the last 50 rounds, behind only Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm. Their model takes into account all relevant stats, many which see Hatton near the top of, including birdies or better (1st), stokes gained approach (5th) and three-putt avoidance (6th).

In my opinion, if you finish the Masters on top of those three stat lists, you most likely will be doning the elustrious green jacket on Sunday. Tyrrell has to be on your 2020 Masters picks sheet.

At +2500, consider Hatton a solid 1-unit play this week.
