November Football Madness
Did you follow my picks for last night? If you didn’t, you have to be kicking yourself today! Joe Berra is on fire people and you better jump on the wagon before it’s at full capacity. I made two wagers for last night, the first one a straight wager taking the Bills +2½ and the second a killer Three Team Special Teaser; Buffalo +12, GS Warriors -1½ and 7Clippers/Suns OVER 202½, which I absolutely DEEEEstroyed!
I had a look at today’s slate of games, and nothing looks worth putting my ass on the line for, so I’m going to take a day off from making y’all money. With the NCAA College Football regular season nearing the end, I am going to have a look at the games involving teams in the top four of the AP Rankings.
November Football Madness
#1 Clemson Tigers @ Syracuse Orange
A twelve game win streak (dating back to last season) including 9 in a row this year has Clemson on top of the rankings for the first time since they won its only national championship in 1981. The Tigers are getting it done with solid play on both sides of the ball, rankings number 4 in total team defense and 15th in offensive scoring.
Clemson showed they are for real with a 23-13 win over Florida State last Saturday, but being number 1 does come with pitfalls though. Their problems were summed up well by Coach Dabo Swinney: “If you lose to lesser opponents, it does not matter what you’ve done against the big boys.” Even if the Tigers destroy their last 3 opponents, it still won’t be enough for some.
#2 Ohio State Buckeyes @ Illinois Fighting Illini
Some are asking how Ohio State lost the number one ranking with the longest active winning streak at 22 games and already having won a record 29 straight in the Big Ten…and my answer is, I have no idea. The biggest thing that should be on the Buckeye’s mind is not look ahead to their next two games after this weekend, going up against #14 Michigan State then at #15 Michigan.
Although their final two games will ultimately decide who represents the East in the Big Ten title game, if they overlook Illinois this week, they could very easily put a fork in their season. The Buckeyes will get QB J.T. Barrett back after he was suspended for last Saturday’s win versus Minnesota, a game the Buckeyes produced its fewest yards in Big Ten play this year.
#3 Alabama Crimson Tide @ #20 Mississippi State Bulldogs
After the Crimson Tide’s 30-16 victory over LSU last week, it made national headlines that the devil himself, Nick Saban was smiling. This weekend we can all hope that the Bulldogs will pull off the upset and put that grimace back on his face.
Alabama jumped in the rankings this week following their six straight win after losing to Ole Miss on September 19th. They will have a tough time against a Mississippi State team that is on a four-game winning streak themselves, averaging over 40 points in those contests.
#12 Oklahoma Sooners @ #4 Baylor Bears
In a season that has seen the Baylor Bears go undefeated to this point, no game is more important than their matchup this weekend against their first ranked opponent. The Bears will put the longest home winning streak in the FBS (20 games) on the line when they host the top team in the Big 12. Both teams are looking to get their conference in the top four for the first time since the rankings were released two weeks ago.
This is a very tough stretch for the Sooners, who play their three highest ranked opponents in consecutive weeks. The Bears rank #1 in points/game at 57.4, scoring 62 points or more in five of their 8 games. Not to be outdone, the Sooners have scored 52 or more in each of their last five.
I cannot wait for tomorrow with a great Saturday College Football schedule. Action will be fierce and quick! Out of these four games, there are two I like. Live lines at America’s Bookie currently have the Bears a 2½-point home favorite, take the Bears as they will handle the Sooners at home.
I also like Mississippi State to cover the 8-points they’re getting against Alabama, with a real possibility of them taking the win, which is paying +270!
