NHL Grand Salami Free Pick
We’re going to mix things up a little today and give a Free Pick for the NHL Grand Salami for January 8th, 2019.
If you’re unsure how the Grand Salami works, it encompasses every game on the schedule for a given day, adding up every goal scored. After adding up every goal, bettors have the opportunity to bet the OVER or UNDER, as well, most top online sportsbooks will have the option to bet on HOME or AWAY team total goals.
If you’re ever planning on hitting your local sports bar with friends, a place you know will have a bunch of different games on, the NHL Grand Salami is a great way to make all the action around you worth watching.
Keep informed on all of our NHL betting news.
There are 11 games on the NHL schedule tonight, and of the 22 teams playing, 14 of those teams are in the bottom 18 in league scoring.
Since December 1st, the UNDER has shown signs of domination with a 20-15 record that included the UNDER winning 6 days in a row mid-December. The UNDER is currently on a 4-day winning streak, with the OVER last paying out on January 3rd when 16 teams scored 54 goals after a total of 49.5 was set.
After the league saw an increase in goals last season, which led to online sportsbooks to increase their totals to include more 6.5 totals than ever seen before, goal scoring is coming back closer to the mean this season.
At this point in the season, only 16 players have 50 points or more with Nikita Kucherov holding the point lead with 20 goals and 49 assists, good for 69 points.
To be fair, October and November did see the OVER payout more often than the UNDER. The OVER went 16-11-1 in October and 17-12 in November. However, I don’t know if it’s the extra turkey or beer during the holiday season, but scoring is down right now, and I’m going to exploit it.
On top of that, the average Grand Salami total will equate to 6 goals per game, today, that number is slightly higher at 68.5.
NHL Grand Salami Free Pick: UNDER 68.5
