NHL Free Pick | Maple Leafs at Rangers
The NHL’s attempt to replace Sunday Night Football sees the New York Rangers hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs in an Original Six matchup. The Leafs won another OG 6 last night in a hard fought OT win in Montreal, getting the game winner from John Tavares, his 33rd tally of the season. The win puts the Leafs at 17-6-2 on the road, equaling the Lightning’s league leading 6 road losses.

If you read my article this past week on Update NHL Stanley Cup Futures, you’d know the Leafs are currently the 4th favorite to win the Cup with odds of +850. On the other side of the ice the Rangers are at +12500, 4th from the bottom.
The Leaf win last night was their 4th in row and 5th in their last 6. Their only loss in that span came in a 3-2 OT loss to the Red Wings. The Rangers haven’t been so fortunate recently, losers in 4 of their last 6.
In an interesting piece of information about this matchup, the road team is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings, with the Leafs coming out of MSG with 5 wins in their last 7 trips. Overall, the Leafs are 4-0 in their last 4 meetings.
I’ve considered taking the Leafs Puck Line at -1.5+165, but the fact is, the Leafs aren’t great ATS. Plus, the Rangers are actually very good ATS. What this comes down to is that the Leafs are a much better team than the Rangers, and even at -165, the Leafs are providing value tonight.
This is the second game of a back-to-back that starts a 6-game road trip for the Leafs. You can expect Coach Babcock to have these guys ready for this one tonight.

The Reds picked up a big win over one of the best teams in baseball last night, and definitely a team that comes in near or above the top-five in most power rankings. Last night was a close game and yet another run line loss by the Astros, who happen to be 38-34 against the Read More…
Throw out the fact that the San Francisco Giants are in last place in the National League West Division. The Giants-Dodgers rivalry is one of the best in baseball. The two teams meet for the fourth time this season beginning a four-game series on Monday night. If you think just because the Giants are in Read More…
