NHL Free Pick | Jets at Coyotes
Today’s free play comes from the desert when the Arizona Coyotes play host to the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets are number one in the Central with 78 points while the Coyotes are currently on the outside of the playoffs looking in, with 61 points, 4 behind the Avalanche who are holding down the final playoff spot in the West. The value in this one is just too much to pass up, let me explain.
Game: Winnipeg Jets (37-20-4, 26-35 ATS) at Arizona Coyotes (28-28-5, 38-23 ATS)
When: 9:00 PM ET, Sunday, February 24th, 2019
Where: Gila River Arena, Glendale, Arizona
Current Line: WIN -135 ARI +115 Total: 6
TV Coverage: TSN3, FS Arizona
Although the Jets are in the midst of their worst run of the season, losers of 6 of their last nine, including two 3-game losing streaks, at -135, the Jets moneyline is a bargain on the road against the Coyotes.
Arizona had lost 5 in a row before winning 5 of their last seven, but 3 of those wins came on the road. Arizona are currently ranked 10th in the West, but have the worse record home at 11-14-3. Even the LA Kings, who are second last to only the lowly Ottawa Senators in points, have more home wins than the Coyotes do. In fact, the 11 home wins are a league worst!

Up and down the lineup the Jets are stronger than the Coyotes. Arizona’s top line consists of Lawson Crouse, Derek Stepan and Josh Archibald. Sure they have a decent top defensive pairing, but even with Dustin Byfuglien on the shelf, the Jet trio manning the blue line for the Jets, Trouba, Morrissey and Myers, more than make up for it.
Jets backup goalie Laurent Brossoit is the confirmed starter against Darcy Kuemper, but with a 10-3-2 record, 2.41 GAA and .931 save %, you won’t see much of a drop-off there either.
Oh, one more thing (I feel like Columbo [yes, dating myself]), now that Patrik Laine finally broke his goal drought with 2 last night, he just may win the game himself tonight. Find yourself a prop bet on Laine scoring a goal, and bet on him tonight as well.

Both of these teams know who they will be playing should they win this series and both had better revel in the glory now because the glory will be in short supply moving forward. Sometimes in sports betting, it is time to put up or shut up. I have been touting the San Jose Sharks as the team to beat in the NHL’s Western Conference since the All-Star break. Things were looking pretty good through the first three games of their best-of-seven conference finals matchup against St. Louis with Read More…
