NHL Free Pick - Bruins at Hurricanes
It’s a busy night in the NHL with 11 games on the Tuesday schedule. There are plenty of great betting options, but this matchup in Raleigh provides the most value in my opinion.
Game: Boston Bruins (6-3-2) at Carolina Hurricanes (6-4-1)
When: 7:00 PM ET, Tuesday, October 30, 2018
Where: PNC Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina
Current Line: BOS +110 CAR -130 Total: 6
TV Coverage: NESN, FS Carolina
After a loss the open the season, the Carolina Hurricanes went on a 4-game winning streak, then a 3-game losing streak. After that they won two more in a row before losing their last game to the Islanders on Sunday.
Something that might surprise you, a look at the Bruins schedule so far this season reveals the exact same sequence of wins and loses as the Hurricanes to start the season. The only different being the Bruins substituting one overtime loss for an actual loss.
Boston’s top line of Patrice Bergeron, David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand are leading the way with 16, 15 and 13 points respectfully. Backup goalie Jaroslav Halak (3-0-2, 1.43 GAA) currently has better numbers than starter Tuukka Rask (3-3, 3.15 GAA). Halak is the confirmed starter for this one.
Another mirror image appears when looking at the Hurricanes stats, with top liners Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen and Micheal ferland leading the way. Goalies Petr Mrazek and Curtis McElhinney have similar stats. Although not confirmed, Scott Darling is expected to get his first start of the season, sending McElhinney to the press box.
Both teams have scored 34 goals on the season, with the B’s giving up 27 and the Hurricanes giving up 31. I feel the Bruins are the better team here, even though they are on the road. I love getting Boston as the underdog here.

The Reds picked up a big win over one of the best teams in baseball last night, and definitely a team that comes in near or above the top-five in most power rankings. Last night was a close game and yet another run line loss by the Astros, who happen to be 38-34 against the Read More…
Throw out the fact that the San Francisco Giants are in last place in the National League West Division. The Giants-Dodgers rivalry is one of the best in baseball. The two teams meet for the fourth time this season beginning a four-game series on Monday night. If you think just because the Giants are in Read More…
Those of you that say there’s nothing to bet this time of year need to take a better look at your betting board. There’s a lot more than Major League Baseball, including other levels of baseball, NASCAR, boxing, MMA, about 200 soccer games every day, tennis and rugby, just to name a few. Today I’m Read More…
