NHL Free Pick | Blues at Islanders
It’s been a while since I’ve brought you a Free Pick from the NHL, but I’m going there tonight. Although both of these teams have had their share of troubles this season, neither is out of the playoff picture with a ton of hockey left to play.
Game: St. Louis Blues (20-20-4, 22-22 ATS) at New York Islanders (25-15-4, 25-19 ATS)
When: 7:00 PM ET, Tuesday, January 15th, 2019
Where: Barclays Center, New York, New York
Current Line: STL +140 | +1.5-210 NYI -160 | -1.5+180 Total: 5.5
TV Coverage: FS Midwest (St. Louis), MSG Plus (NY)
The Islanders are currently holding down the final Wild Card spot in the East, while the Blues are only 3 points behind the Minnesota Wild for the final spot in the West.
We have all your NHL betting news in one place.
The Blues are currently riding their longest winning streak, with 3 wins in a row, including wins in Dallas and Washington their last 2 times out. The Islanders had won 6 in row, but have alternated losses and wins in their last 4.
The starting goalies are unconfirmed at this point, but it looks like the Islanders will ride the hot hand in Thomas Greiss after he stopped 38 of 39 shots against the high-flying Lightning on Sunday, helping his team to a 5-1 victory. Jake Allen is expected to start for the Blues.
The Blues have the edge over the past 10 times they’ve played the Islanders with a 5-3-2 record, however, the Blues have only won 2 of the last 7 when playing the Islanders. The total has gone OVER in 6 of the last 10.
I’m going with the Blues in this one for a few reasons. One is because I don’t think they are as bad as they played in October and November, but another reason is because the public is pouring on the Islanders today. This looks like a great fade the public situation, and I am taking the underdog in this one.
NHL Free Pick: Blues +140

Normally, this wouldn’t be a sexy game and we’re not saying that it’s a sexy game today, but we do like the curb appeal the Oakland A’s are giving their fans. Don’t look now, but this team comes into the three-game set with a 53-41 record and having won 8 of their last 10 games. Read More…
With the second half of the 2019 MLB season in full swing, we had to search the Monday schedule for some real value. Wouldn’t you know we found it with the defending World Series champion Boston Red Sox who host American League East Division foe Toronto on Monday night. The Red Sox still put up Read More…
I hit the second part of a double down on Bryson DeChambeau to beat Wyndham Clark last week in their 4th round matchup at the 3M Open. If it weren’t for a miraculous eagle putt on 18 by Matthew Wolff, we would have hit the double down, and a huge payday at +1150 plus the Read More…
