NFL Free Pick | Raiders @ Cardinals
Want to see more Kyler Murray? You will in Arizona’s Week 2 preseason game against Oakland. Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury has said Murray will play more than just one series as he did in Week 1. How much more no one knows. What we do know is there is some nice value in tonight’s game that can add to our betting bankrolls.
Game: Oakland Raiders (1-0, 0-1 ATS) at Arizona Cardinals (1-0, 0-1 ATS)
When: 8:00 PM ET, Thursday, August 15th, 2019
Where: State Farm Stadium, Glendale, Arizona
Current Line: ARI -3 Total: 40
TV Coverage: ESPN
Murray went 6-of-7 for 44 yards in Arizona’s 17-13 win over the Los Angeles Chargers last week. His extended presence might make the Cardinals offense just a little less anemic than it was last week, but don’t expect a huge difference in Arizona’s point total.
Kingsbury still needs to decide on a No. 2 and a No. 3 quarterback. We’ll see plenty of Brett Hundley, Drew Anderson, and Charles Kanoff tonight.
The Cardinals are also expected to play veteran WR Larry Fitzgerald and RB David Johnson. You might think their presence would inject some life into Arizona’s offense. Not necessarily. While both will play, it will not be for long.
Arizona’s defense gave up 179 rushing yards last week. Eighty-five of them were to Chargers’ quarterbacks Easton Stick and Tyrod Taylor. This week, Arizona will likely see a lot of Raiders QB Nathan Peterman who ran three times for 56 yards in Oakland’s 14-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
Peterman and Mike Glennon will continue their battle for the Raiders’ No. 2 spot behind starter Derek Carr.
If you noticed each team’s final score from last week, that is where we will find our value. In four of Oakland’s last five games and in 12 of the Raiders’ last 14 games against NFC opponents, the Total has gone Under.
On the other end, in four of the Cardinals last six games and in eight of their last 10 at home, the Total has gone Under.
This early in the preseason, offenses are still struggling. Take the Under tonight.
