NFL Free Pick | Cowboys vs. Rams
The NFL has been tough on me lately, but I’m going to stick with it for Saturday’s pick. In Week 15 of the 2019 regular season, Dallas and the L.A. Rams will meet in a game that will likely have playoff implications. This preseason Week 2 game is much less important, but it does have some bankroll implications.
Game: Dallas Cowboys (0-1, 0-1 ATS) vs. Los Angeles Rams (0-1, 0-1 ATS)
When: 10:00 PM ET, Saturday, August 17th, 2019
Where: Aloha Stadium, Honolulu, Hawaii
Current Line: DAL -3 Total: 39
TV Coverage: NFL Network
Since it is Week 2, neither team will play many of its starters once again. Dallas WR Amari Cooper likely won’t play and offensive linemen Tyron Smith and Zack Martin are listed as questionable.
The same is true for the Rams who will not see RB Todd Gurley suit up for the second consecutive week. Rams head coach Sean McVay will likely be without either Cooper Kupp or Brandin Cooks or both. With those starting receivers and the team’s starting running back out of the lineup, generating some offense might be tough.
Both teams struggled to put points on the board last week. The Cowboys, who continue to watch star running back Ezekiel Elliott hold out of preseason camp, put up just three Brett Maher field goals in a 17-9 loss to San Francisco. Quarterback Cooper Rush went 16-for-26 for 142 yards and was the lone bright spot in an anemic offense. It’s a football bettors dream.
Surprisingly, the Rams offense was even worse settling for a lone field goal in a 14-3 loss to Oakland. The Rams totaled a whopping 190 yards and 10 first downs. Playing another week without many of their starters at some of the key skill positions, don’t expect much from Los Angeles again in Week 2.
The Total has actually gone Under in six of the Rams’ last nine games. Dallas has a similar history with the Total going Under in 12 of its last 16 games. Factor in a long trip to Hawaii for both teams and you have the makings for some jet-lagged offenses. That means we’re taking the Under on Saturday night.
