NFL FREE PICK | 49ers @ Broncos
Sticking with the NFL on Saturday worked out for us, so let’s give it another try. San Francisco heads to Denver and both starting quarterbacks are expected to see some action. It probably won’t be for long, which will likely have an effect on our outcome.
Game: San Francisco 49ers (1-0, 1-0 ATS) at Denver Broncos (1-1, 1-1 ATS)
When: 8:00 PM ET, Monday, August 19th, 2019
Where: Broncos Stadium at Mile High, Denver, Colorado
Current Line: DEN -1 Total: 41
TV Coverage: ESPN
Jimmy Garoppolo, the Niners QB, will start but head coach Kyle Shanahan has not said how much playing time his starter will see. Don’t expect him to play much. Remember he is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in Week 3 of last season.
On the other side, Joe Flacco, who was acquired from Baltimore in the offseason, will start for Denver. New Broncos head coach Vic Fangio doesn’t know how long Flacco will play either. Denver has been taking a good hard look at their rookie Drew Lock, who struggled in his first preseason game but was better last week.
The Broncos are favored and have the advantage of playing at home at higher elevation and have had more time off. Denver hasn’t played since Thursday of Week 1 of the preseason. They should be well rested.
Not playing for so long might be a disadvantage too and with both starting quarterbacks effectively out sometime in the first quarter, we have an advantage. Denver, which played in the Hall of Fame Game to start the preseason, has scored a total of 28 points – 14 each – in two games. The 49ers put up just 17 in a win over Dallas.
The Total has gone Under in all of Denver’s last 10 games. All of them! The numbers are the same when factoring in playing at home. The Total has gone Under is all five of Denver’s last five home games. We’re sticking with our strategy on Monday. Take the Under.
