NBA Free Pick | Spurs at Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers are having a good year, maybe not the perfect year, but overall, things are looking good in the “city of roses”. They come into tonight’s game with a 32-21 record and 22-8 at home. They have done a great job of protecting their home floor and they will be looking for another against the beleaguered Spurs.

We say “beleaguered”, the Spurs are certainly not what they used to be and the loss of stars will do this to any organization, however, they are eight games above .500 and they are still coached by maybe the greatest coach of the last 20 years! This team still has fight and they are still a relevant player in the NBA’s Western Conference.

The problem in this game is two questions; do the Spurs rebound on the road after an ugly beat down in Golden State on Wednesday night and can they win at all on the road in the west? They are 10-17 on the road overall and were drilled last evening to the tune of 141-102.

These two come in with very similar numbers across the board. The Spurs are scoring 112.4 points per game and allowing 110.2 while shooting 48% from the field along with 24.9 assists per game and 44.3 rebounds. The Blazers are scoring 113 points per game and allowing 110.0 while shooting 46% from the field along with 22.8 assists per game and 47.9 rebounds.

NBA Scores and Odds

The Blazers have won three of their last five, which includes the last game (a loss to Miami) at home. This was a miserable loss to a team that’s struggling overall, 118-108. The Spurs have won three of their last five, which includes two straight losses coming against Sacramento, 127-112, and then GS last evening, 141-102.

The six wins combined between the Blazers and the Spurs, in the last five games—they really don’t matter! Other than Utah, the opponents for both teams were weak, which included Atlanta, Phoenix, New Orleans, Brooklyn, and Phoenix. This one will be close. The Spurs need to stop the bleeding and are looking for a road victory.
