NBA Free Pick | Rockets at Hawks
Going against conventional wisdom almost worked last night, but in the end, it was another loss. I’m dipping back in the NBA tonight with a total wager on Rockets at Hawks. I’ve crushed all the numbers from my top games today, gave my magic eight ball a little rub, and here’s what I came up with.
Game: Houston Rockets (44-26, 32-36-2 ATS) at Atlanta Hawks (24-47, 35-36 ATS)
When: 7:30 PM ET, Tuesday, March 19th, 2019
Where: State Farm Arena, Atlanta, Georgia
Current Line: ATL +8 Total: 231.5
TV Coverage: AT&T SportsNet Southwest, FS Southeast
The Houston Rockets have been rolling, winning 11 of their last 12, with the only blemish being a 2-point loss at home to Golden State last Wednesday. With Harden, Capela, Gordon and Paul all averaging over 15 points a game, they are primed for a deep run in the 2019 NBA playoffs.
Check out the Schwab’s “Dogs Ready to Bite the Books” article, when he predicts an upset in the opening round of March Madness.
Although the Atlanta Hawks are all but eliminated from the playoffs, they have found their scoring touch. They have scored 120 or more in 7 of their last 13, helping them to an O/U record of 40-31.
When it comes to offense, the Rockets are #11, with an average of 112.9 points per game, while the Hawks aren’t far behind with 112.5, good for #14. On the defensive side of the ball, things get a little dicey. The Hawks are giving up a lead worst 118.5 PPG, while the Rockets can be found in the middle of the pack at #12, allowing 109.9 per game.
Even though these two historically haven’t scored a lot of points when they play each other, with the total going UNDER in 4 of the last 6, these are two very different squads.
As well, the total has gone OVER is 6 of Atlanta’s last 9 games when hosting Houston.
The Hawks score over 130 tonight, and allow more than 100.
