NBA Free Pick | Hawks at Blazers
The Atlanta Hawks have not been anything to write home about this season and started with an abysmal 6-23 record, however, things look to be turning for a team that has a lot of youth and a lot of talent to boot. Now don’t get crazy, the Hawks are not going to suddenly have an epiphany and find their inner Golden State Warriors! They will not go deep in the playoffs, if they even make the playoffs. What’s good is their focus, it’s not on the playoffs, it’s a game at a time. Starting with the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night, with a 121-101 win to kick off the seven game road trip.

Here’s the deal. The Trail Blazers are a better team than the Atlanta Hawks but the Hawks hang around and now that they have seen the brighter side of winning and are making what looks to be a concerted effort to win, these guys are turning into a decent bet.
Things certainly didn’t start out this way but with John Collins stepping up and is making a name for himself, these Hawks are covering the spread. Collins put up 35 against Chicago on Wednesday and this kid is a body! At 6-10, 235 lbs., he is exactly what the Hawks have been looking for and what they need up front. He has helped to stop the bleeding.
The Blazers are a solid NBA basketball team as usual, and with all the usual contributors in Lillard and Nurkic, but they are still the Blazers.
What we mean by that; underwhelming and often underperforming. It’s the same old tired gig in Portland, going back to the mid 90’s. The more things change, the more they stay the same in Portland.
Look for the Hawks to come out banging and look for them to get beat in the first half, also look for them to get beat in the second half but not by much. This one should be closer than -11.
