NBA Free Pick - Detroit vs. Brooklyn
The Brooklyn Nets find themselves in the middle of a three game losing streak and they want nothing more then to end that tonight. Will the fans be treated or will they be tricked at the Barclay Center? We love the term “high-flying” but we must use it loosely as we describe the Pistons as “high-flying.” Who knows if they are high-flying, however, they are 4-2 and come into this contest with their new found star scoring just over 28 ppg.
The Blake Griffin era for the Detroit Pistons has been slow to take off and last season when he arrived in town it was a shock. The LA Clippers felt they were better off without Griffin and even though the fate of the franchise had been placed entirely in his hands, they parted ways. Last season Detroit struggled in nearly every facet of the game. They were slow up front, had very little presence in the paint, they were slow outside and had very little perimeter presence, and they were even worse on defense. Everybody beat the Pistons. The team was an absolute disaster last season and anybody that knew anything about basketball on any level, they knew that Griffin could only help. He had to help, and he has.
Griffin is close to double/double numbers for his career with 21.4 ppg and 9.2 rebounds. Through six games thus far in this young season, he is scoring 28.4 ppg, along with 10 RPG. Griffin is a great offensive player and now that he is in sync with his Piston teammates, this team will get better and they have been much improved.
The Pistons are off to a 4-2 start which included winning their first four games out of the starting gate. They have been blessed with a soft opening schedule starting out with these very Brooklyn Nets and a win, 103-100, Chicago, 118-116, the 76ers (not soft, a great win) 133-132, a game that featured overtime and Griffin pouring in 56 points, and their last win came against the Cavaliers, 110-103. Every win other than the 76ers, has been against a soft team and with the Bulls, a horrible team!
The Nets are 2-5 and look as bad as they did last season! Their two wins have come against the Knicks and the Knicks! This says very little! The Knicks are terrible as well and not getting a lot better themselves.
The Nets are laying -2 ½ tonight and the only way this makes any sense at all is based on two factors; home court, and the fact they have lost three in a row and one of those losses was against these Pistons.
The Pistons are better and they will cover +2 ½. Take the points tonight. Happy Halloween!
The Reds picked up a big win over one of the best teams in baseball last night, and definitely a team that comes in near or above the top-five in most power rankings. Last night was a close game and yet another run line loss by the Astros, who happen to be 38-34 against the Read More…
Throw out the fact that the San Francisco Giants are in last place in the National League West Division. The Giants-Dodgers rivalry is one of the best in baseball. The two teams meet for the fourth time this season beginning a four-game series on Monday night. If you think just because the Giants are in Read More…
