I almost gave you an NHL pick today (Caps +125), but I decided to go with a total wager in the Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Clippers game. Top online sportsbooks have the Nuggets a 5.5-point home favorite, where it’s been very steady except for a short window at 5 late yesterday afternoon, with the total set at 226.
The Nuggets come into this one atop the Western Conference, with a 1-game lead over the Warriors with 2 games in hand. The Clippers currently hold the 4th spot in the West, 3.5 games back from the Nuggets.
Both teams are 7-3 in their last 10, but the Clips are on a 3-game win streak. However, the Nuggets won 5 straight before a loss two games ago before winning their last time out in Miami.
This is the third meeting between these two, both in LA, with the Nuggets taking Game 1 107-98 the first game of the season on October 17th. The Clippers scored 132 in a 21-point victory on December 22nd.
So far this season, the Nuggets are scoring 110.5 points per game and giving up 105.5, but in the last 5, they are scoring 114.2 PPG and allowing 111. Although they have been a little better of late, the Clippers are allowing 114.1 points for game, the 7th most in the league.
Watch for former Nugget Danilo Gallinari to have another strong game and for multiple players off the Clippers bench to score into the double-digits. The Nuggets will be too strong under the boards and their defense will hold the Clippers in check. 226 is too high in this one and I’m going with the UNDER.
