MUST READ – OCTOBER DREAMS…2019 WORLD SERIES ODDS

24-year-old Tyler Mahle is not a household name, but don’t be surprised it is by 2022. He will only be 28, and have that much more Major League experience. Mahle threw a perfect game in Double-A using only 88 pitches, and was a hit batter from recording another the year before.

Both Mahle’s slider and change up were among the worst in the Majors last year, and made sweeping changes in the offseason. He’ll still be a fastball hurler, just wants to rely less on it, throwing it 68% of the time last year. That percentage had him ranked 11th highest rate in baseball taking into account the 140 pitchers that threw at least 100 innings.

This year he’s replaced his slider with a curveball and a splitter is replacing his change. Mahle gave up 5 hits and no runs, striking out 5 in his season opener against the Pirates, then went 5, allowing 2 hits, including a homer for the lone run while K’ing 7.

He had a slight implosion his last time out, but that was against the scorching hot Dodgers, allowing 4 runs on 11 hits. His ERA on the season sits at 2.65 with a WHIP of 1.29…the dude can pitch.

The Reds are not as bad as their 1-8 record to start the season indicated. I’m fading the consensus today and taking the road dog.

If you’re still reading, you’re in luck, because I don’t usually do this. I am parlaying this pick with the Mariners and Indians for a nice $800 return on a $100 bet.
