I’m off to a rough start so far with my free picks at 0-2, but I found a weak line with some great value for my MLB Free Pick Pirates at Reds today. At 8, this one has one of the lowest totals on the MLB betting board tonight.
Game: Pittsburgh Pirates (4-13, 10-7 RL) at Cincinnati Reds (8-11, 6-13 RL)
When: 7:10 PM ET, Friday, August 14th, 2020
Where: Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati, Ohio
Current Line: PIT +175 CIN -210 Total: 8
Probable Pitchers: Chad Kuhl (0-0, 2.00 ERA) vs. Sonny Gray (3-1, 2.25 ERA)
Both of today’s starters have great ERAs, with Chad Kuhl at 2.00 and Sonny Gray at 2.25. The problem with Kuhl is he hasn’t gone more than 4 innings in any of his 3 starts so far this year.
To further Kuhl’s inability to go deep in games is his bullpen, which ranks in the bottom 5 in the league. They have given up more than 5.5 runs per game. The more you know these stats will create the thought processes to make you a smarter bettor.
Gray has actually done a great job so far this season, going 6 or more innings in 3 of his first 4 starts. He had his worst outing of the season his last time out, allowing 4 earned runs on 6 hits and 3 walks in 5 1/3 innings versus the Brewers on Sunday.
7-run 2nd inning leads Pirates to win | Pirates-Reds Game Highlights 8/13/20
Gray better hope he can stay in the game a while, his bullpen is one of the worst in the league, giving up almost 6 and a half runs a game.
Gray is 2-3 with a 4.71 ERA against the Pirates in his career, and although he’s pitched great at home to start this shortened season, Great American Ball Park is known to be a hitters park that gives up a ton of homers.
I’m going to jump on the OVER in this one for my free pick, as I see one team scoring 6 or 7 runs themselves tonight.
