If you like to bet baseball, then you’re in luck, because I’m going to talk some overall baseball betting strategy today. I usually wait until the end to give you my pick, but the content far outweighs the pick today. For those who have been following my picks (Fri, Wed (PGA) & Fri), you know I love finding valuable dogs. Today’s free pick is Oakland Athletics +110.

I am a true baseball fan. I buy MLB.tv every year, and I put a link for you to buy it (you’re welcome MLB). When there is Major League baseball being played, you can be rest assured it’s on in the background in Joe’s home office.

I was going through the lines today and saw Fiers was a dog at home to Peacock and Stros. A few things crossed through my mind.

MUST READ-> WHY THE RAPTORS WIN THE 2019 NBA FINALS

First of all, Fiers was the A’s Opening Day pitcher all the way back on March 20th when they opened the season against the Mariners in Japan. Sure, he got blown up for 5 earned in 3 innings, but the fact is, the A’s organization trusts him enough to run him out there on Opening Day.

Don’t forget that Fiers pitched a no-hitter on May 7th against the Reds, and throwing aside a 3-game run that produced the devil’s 666 (6 earned runs in 3 straight starts), he’s allowed 3 runs or less in 8 of his other 11 starts in North America.

Second thing: Looking at any numbers surrounding the Astros this season came from a different team. A team that included George Springer, Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa in the top 4 of the batting order, not to mention the middle of the infield and a chunk of the outfield.

Lastly, the recent numbers. The A’s are looking more like the team that made the playoffs last year, going on a 10-game winning streak that was ended when they lost the last 2 of a 3-game set against the Angels earlier this week.

Although the Astros are 7.5 games up in the AL West, they are 4-4 in their last 8. The A’s are 4th in the AL with 18 wins at home (18-12), and Fiers is much better with home cooking. He has a 3.78 ERA at home against a 6.37 ERA on the road.

Sometimes you have to look deeper than what’s happened over the course of the season and take the facts for what they are. Take the Athletics at home tonight.
