Dolphins interview Shanahan, Austin

MIAMI (AP) Mike Shanahan, who is considering a return to coaching after two years out of the NFL, has interviewed for the Miami Dolphins’ head coaching job.
The Dolphins met with Shanahan on Tuesday, and also interviewed Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. The team is casting a wide net in its search and interviewed former Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith on Monday.
Shanahan, 63, last coached the Washington Redskins and was fired after going 3-13 in 2013. He went 24-40 in four seasons with the Redskins and took them to the playoffs in 2012.
Shanahan coached from 1995 to 2008 in Denver, where he had only two losing seasons and led the Broncos to Super Bowl titles in 1997 and 1998.
