College Football Free Pick Saturday

The number one team in the country, the Alabama Crimson Tide will be taking on the Texas A&M Aggies. This rumble is set to kick off at 2:30 PM ET and can be seen on CBS. Football fans, hear this; this is going to be a good football game. The Aggies are not quite on the same level as Alabama but don’t let that fool you. Normally, we probably wouldn’t pick against Alabama and for obvious reasons— they’re Alabama!

It’s a difficult thing to pick against the best team in the nation but then again is it? Let’s take a look at the game with logic and a sense of reason, then we can make a more informed decision as to whether or not we lay the -26 or take the +26. This game opened at -23 and quickly jumped up to -26, -26.5, -27 and back to -26 most of the offshore bookies are holding at -26. Be sure to check with your bookie for the latest numbers leading up to kickoff.

Look, the Aggies aren’t playing around and they have put together two big wins this year and one really big one with a beatdown over Northwestern State to the tune of 59-7. Trayveon Williams ran amuck in this game for 20 carries and 240 yards and a long of 73 for one of three touchdowns on the day. This kid doesn’t play around! He shows up to play ball and play ball he did against the Demons. Now, we hear the argument that you are already making and it’s a fair one, who is Northwestern? They are pretty much nobody in the world of college football.

There is no question when looking at the schedule that Alabama and Nick Saban, they make it work. This team is good and they are ranked #1 in the country for a reason.  Against Louisville, they put together 519 total yards and held the Cardinals to 268. Against 1-1 Arkansas State, they put up 599 total yards but let State gain 391 yards against them. Much less of a defensive effort in this one than against Louisville. Against Ole Miss they put up 516 yards while holding to 248. This defense is more like the Alabama that we all know and are used to seeing. The one troubling question with Alabama is turnovers. The Tide gave it away twice, had this been A&M, we may have a very different storyline.

The Aggies should have gotten one over on Clemson, but they let the Tigers off the hook and lost 28-26. The Aggies have blown away two bad teams, just as Alabama has. The Tide have yet to play a contender, the Aggies played #2 Clemson and came oh so close but, in the end, couldn’t get it done.

Prediction: Aggies have enough to hang around and keep this within reason… +26 all day, take the points, it’s a gift.
