Browns' McCown practicing more, may play

BEREA, Ohio (AP) Browns quarterback Josh McCown will do more in practice and remains a possibility to start on Sunday against the Steelers.
Coach Mike Pettine said McCown’s activity will increase Thursday and the Browns will have a better idea following the workout whether his rib injury has healed enough for him to play in Pittsburgh.
McCown sat out last week’s loss in Cincinnati with the injury he sustained on Nov. 1 against Arizona.
McCown was limited in practice Wednesday and said afterward that he’s feeling better and optimistic about playing. Pettine said the 36-year-old McCown ”was sore but functional” during Wednesday’s practice.
Johnny Manziel played in place of McCown last week and will start again Sunday if needed. Manziel played well in the first half of his fourth career start but was bottled up after halftime by the Bengals, who won 31-10.
