Wimbledon Day 4

The rain came today and backed up a few of the matches. Certain matches didn't begin like Malisse vs. Simon. Others were not completed such as Mahut being down 2 sets to 1 with Falla tied at 3 in the 4th. Sharapova was in trouble early but won the first set tiebreak vs. Pironkova and was up 3-1 in the second. Winners today included Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Kim Clijsters, Richard Gasquet, David Ferrer, Janko Tipsarevic, Ana Ivanovic and Na Li.

Now for the bad news, some big names did have bad days. Sam Stosur lost in 3 sets to Arantxa Rus, Cibulkova lost in straight sets to Zakopalova and our boy Gulbis lost 9-7 in the 5th to Janowicz. We can't figure out the problem with Gulbis, can't he find a decent coach. The kid has it all, a huge serve, a monster forehand and a good backhand, can volley and has touch. The one thing he is missing is someone to say take your head out of your ass turn it down a level or 2 and try to win, not show off for the crowd. I understand that as a young player you want to hit out and hope someday the shots will fall in, but after all the years of mediocrity you might have to change your game plan a bit. Give me 6 months with this guy and he will be in the top 20 and stay there, and within a year he could be in the top 10.

Thursday weather willing we will finish up the second round, with the bottom half playing and all the matches that weren't completed today. Ferrer will play again against De Schepper and Roddick will play Phau, both are -2000 and should win in 4 sets. Nadal, Tsonga and Del Potro are also big favorites. The two most interesting matches of the day should be Dimitrov -175 vs. Baghdatis +145 and Murray -1500 against Karlovic. We are calling America's Bookie and betting Baghdatis here, and although we are not putting money on it, Karlovic will give Murray fits with his big serve and his awkward game. Murray should find a way to win in 4 sets.

For the Women, Azarenka, Kvitova and Serena are big favorites who will win. The match we have our Eye on is Mariana Lucic +600 against Bartoli. We like both of these players but we have always liked Lucic who has had an injury-riddled career and needs this one. We hate to bet with our heart but we really think she can beat Bartoli. She made it through the qualifiers, is 30 years old, this may be her last shot and is a Fox. It's worth one unit to make 6 in a match that will go 3 sets.

Today is dog day here as we are betting Baghdatis +145 and Lucic +600.
