Watson to 4th in world rankings
Watson was the eighth straight first-time major champion, and the 14th
different winner in the last 14 majors.
The top three players in the world were unchanged with Luke Donald followed by
Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood.
Watson was trailed by Hunter Mahan, Steve Stricker, Martin Kaymer and Tiger
Woods, who all fell one spot apiece.
Phil Mickelson shared third behind Watson and moved up five to No. 9, while
Justin Rose dipped a notch to 10th. Adam Scott improved a pair to 11, last
year’s Masters winner Charl Schwartzel tumbled four to 12th and Webb Simpson
slipped three to 13th.
Matt Kuchar, who shared third with Mickelson, Westwood and Peter Hanson, was
up four to 14th, while Graeme McDowell stayed put in 15th. Jason Day and
Dustin Johnson both fell five to 16 and 17. Bill Haas dipped one to 18th.
Louis Oosthuizen, who lost the Masters playoff to Watson, climbed eight to
19th and PGA Champion Keegan Bradley was down one to 20th.
Nick Watney fell out of the top 20 as he slid two to 22nd.
