UFC 149 Preview and Odds

UFC 149 will take place from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary next Saturday and a new UFC champion will be crowned in the main event, as the UFC Interim Bantamweight Championship is on the line when Urijah Faber faces Renan Barao. This is a fight for the interim title as the actual champion, Dominick Cruz, is going through a knee injury that will have him out for almost a year.

According to the oddsmakers at America's Bookie, Barao is the favorite to win at -200, while Faber is at +160 odds to win. This would be Faber's first UFC title. He has won three of his last four fights, but he has lost his last four championship contests.

Barao is 3-0 in the UFC and he has won his last 28 fights with nine KOs and 13 submissions in the run. Faber will be his toughest opponent to date. Faber has a slight striking edge but Barao is a better submission fighter.

The co-main event features Tim Boetsch against Hector Lombard. Lombard is favored to win at -345, while Boetsch is at +275 odds to win. Lombard is making his UFC debut, he was the Bellator middleweight champion for the past few years and he has a 20-fight win streak that includes four straight KOs. Boetsch is 3-0 since moving to the middleweight division. Both men are strong so this fight won't last long.
