This Week in NCAA Basketball

Just a few weeks removed from this year’s NCAA championship, there is plenty going on in college basketball that will affect betting next season.

UConn lost 2 more players this past week and they were the 4th and 5th underclassmen to leave the Huskies since the NCAA turned down the university’s request for a waiver to allow them to play in the 2013 NCAA tournament.  Michael Bradley and Roscoe Smith have both been allowed releases from their scholarships, which will allow them to transfer.  Sophomore Jeremy Lamb and freshman Andre Drummond have announced they will enter the NBA draft this year and junior Alex Oriakhi will transfer to Missouri.  Talk about starting from scratch!

Sophomore Dominique Ferguson has also decided to declare for the NBA draft after FIU refused to release him to transfer to another university.  His decision was a result of the firing of Isiah Thomas earlier this month.

Virginia Tech surprised Seth Greenberg by firing him this past week.  The timing was kind of odd as many off season coaching positions have already been filled, which will limit the Hokies options.  Even though it is an ACC job, Virginia Tech is far from the elite of the league.  We will back next week to tell you how some of the schools are looking from a recruiting standpoint.
