Teams Who Could Surprise Us This Year in the NBA
The NBA season is getting ready to get underway, and all of the sports bettors out there are locking in their picks for the potential NBA Finals winner in June of 2013. The popular choices are likely to be the teams like the Miami Heat, who are our defending champions, the Los Angeles Lakers who saw some major improvements happen to their roster, and the Oklahoma City Thunder who were defeated by the Heat last season in the Finals. These three teams are going to be strong this year, but we definitely have to take a look at a few teams who could potentially surprise us this season and possibly make a nice run. Let's jump right into it.
Minnesota Timberwolves
I'm not going to say that the Minnesota Timberwolves are going to surprise everyone out there if they end up having a big season, because the talent on this roster is legit. Some people are actually thinking that they could be a top three team in the Western Conference this season with their combination of returning players in Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, and Nikola Pekovic. They also added some other key parts to their roster such as Brandon Roy, and the biggest question about this team will be whether they can get past Kevin Love's injury and the few months that he will likely be out.
Denver Nuggets
The biggest question surrounding the Denver Nuggets right now, is whether or not they can win a title without having a superstar on their team. This team has talent from top to bottom and has players who have the potential to score often, but they don't have a LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, etc. Only time will tell if this will be a big issue, but with the talent that they have, I think that they could be in for a deep postseason run.
Chicago Bulls
Oh yes, the Chicago Bulls are under the potential "surprises". The reason for this is because not many people are expecting them to be able to do much with Derrick Rose being out for a good while after his injury last season in the playoffs. I think that the Bulls are capable of getting into the playoffs without Rose, and that if he comes back during the postseason that they are going to be a ridiculously scary team for anyone who gets matched up with them.
