Steve Nash Headed to the Lakers

After speculation over where Steve Nash will play next season, it has been announced that he will he headed to the Lakers.  In return for Nash the Suns will get the Lakers’ 1st round draft picks in 2013 and 2014 and 2nd round picks in 2014 and 2015.  LA also paid Phoenix $3 million to seal the deal.

It seems like a good deal all around for everyone concerned.  Nash is a standup guy and was concerned that the Suns get good value for any trade concerning him.  He is getting near the end of his career and really wanted to land someplace where there was a chance to get a championship immediately.  He will also be closer to his children in LA.

I would definitely say that he has a much better chance of winning a title with the Lakers that with the Knicks or the Raptors, which were the other top teams on the list.  His contract will be $27 million over 3 years.  Nash and Kobe playing together will be exciting to watch.  I really think Nash can take some of the pressure off of Kobe and it is going to help the Lakers so much to have a level head like this on the floor.  Now if Los Angeles were to somehow get Dwight Howard, they would move right to the head of the line for winning it all in 2013.  It will be interesting to see how this affects Odds to Win the NBA Championship.
