Odds to Win the 2013 Super Bowl – Changes this Week

Hang on folks; the first games of the NFL preseason are just a little over a month away.  We like to keep you up to date on the most current changes on odds to win Super Bowl XLVII and there have been a few changes this week.

First, the Atlanta Falcons have gone from +1500 to +2000.  I’m not finding any hard reasons that should make the Falcons longer odds.  Unless they aren’t getting much action and the oddsmakers want to entice some futures bets on Atlanta.  I don’t really see them as Super Bowl contenders but still not sure about the change.  I see Atlanta as having the typical Atlanta year.  They just never seem to live up to expectations once the season begins.  Or at the best, they have a good first half of the year and then just sort of fade away.  They have a good team and can hang with anyone in the league.  Maybe the Falcons get something going this year if they get off to a fast start, giving Matt Ryan and the dirty birds some confidence.

Next we have a change with the Miami Dolphins.  They have jumped from +3500 to a whopping +5000.  They can go as high as they want, I don’t think there is any danger on paying out for Miami winning the Super Bowl.  But like the Falcons I don’t see any obvious changes or anything special going on with the team.  There is a 3 way race for QB but I think Matt Moore is the only option they have to win games this year.  He is not the greatest QB in the league but he did lead them to a pride saving run in the second half of the season.  They are going to need a year similar to last from Reggie Bush this season if they are going to be competitive.  He was one of the few bright spots on the team last year.

The NY Giants are the world champions and they still can’t get any respect.  Like Atlanta, they have moved from +1500 to +2000.  They will be a good, solid team this year.  Quite possibly better than last year.  But the NFC is going to be tough this season.  All 4 teams in the NFC are going to have a shot at winning this division.  So while the Giants will be in the thick of things, no cigar.  It is very tough to repeat and win back to back Super Bowls.
