Odds to Win the 2012 WGC/Bridgestone Invitational – Tiger Woods is Favorite
The top players took last week off but all the big name will be out for this week’s event, the World Golf Championship – Bridgestone Invitational. Tiger Woods is the clear favorite at +400 and this time I could see him winning.
Tiger played well in the recent British Open, finishing 3rd and it was really just 1 hole out of 72 that sank him as he took a triple bogey. He looked good and struck the ball well throughout the tournament. He has won this event 7 times, the last of which was in 2009. He is currently #2 in the world and has 3 wins so far this year. This might be the week to make some money on Tiger. Be sure and check his matchups too and take advantage of as many betting opportunities as possible. I picked him against 3 different players in the British Open and cleaned up.
Behind Tiger is Luke Donald at +1100. He is currently #1 in the world and has placed in the top 10 in five of the last 6 WGC events in which he has competed. You always have to keep an eye on Donald as he is extremely consistent. He isn’t that exciting but he could make some noise here.
Adam Scott and Lee Westwood are next in line at +1200 and +1300 respectively. Scott won this event last year and had an impressive 4 day total of -17 doing it. You have to wonder what his mental state will be after that meltdown in the British Open. He had that one in the bag and lost 4 strokes over the final 5 holes. He hasn’t won this year but perhaps this could be the week.
Westwood is #4 in the world but has not played all that well in the last couple of tournaments. He does have a couple of wins on the year though so maybe he will elevate his game for the event. I will be pulling for my personal favorite, Bubba Watson, but I’m not going to make any wild predictions of him winning it. Who knows, maybe this is the week that either Phil Mickelson or Rory McIlroy can get back on track.
