Odds to Win the 2012 PGA Championship – Tiger Woods Favored Yet Again

The PGA comes to us this week from Kiawah Island, South Carolina for the PGA Championship.  It is hard to believe that it is the last Major of the year.  It’s kind of getting old to see Tiger as the favorite every week.  He is the favorite at +700 and will have this last chance to get a Major win this week.

Woods, while not terrible, didn’t play well last week until the final round.  He was 4 under par for the day and ended up tied for 8th.  He has 3 wins in 2012 and is #2 in the world rankings.  Tiger will win another Major eventually but I think it is wishful thinking for those who think he is going to return to the dominance that he once held in golf.  As always, he could put it all together and win this weekend, but I’m not betting on it.

Luke Donald is behind Tiger at +1000.  Donald is a solid player and usually has short odds but I don’t see him winning here.  Maybe it is just that he is not that exciting but I’m not even considering him this week.  Now Rory McIlroy at +1100 is a pick I might just take.  He has been shaky in 2012 after a brilliant season last year.  He looked like his old self at Bridgestone last week, finishing tied for 5th and shooting par or better on all 4 rounds.  If he can continue his play in this week’s first round and gather some momentum, he could be a threat.  He doesn’t necessarily have to jump out to a lead as we’ve seen a lot of come from behind wins recently.

The odds seem a bit long to me for Keegan Bradley at +3000.  He is the defending champion in this event and got the win at Bridgestone last week.  I don’t like going with a player to repeat in back to back weeks but he is playing well right now.  Don’t forget and take a look at the player matchups also when betting golf this week.

Tiger Woods +700

Luke Donald +1000

Webb Simpson +2500

Justin Rose +2700

Keegan Bradley +3000

Louis Oosthuizen +3000
