NHL’s Decision to Cancel Games Catches Attention of Sports World

Obviously the news about the NHL lockout is one of the most talked about things in all of sports right now, and it just continues to get worse and worse it seems currently.  The newest news came just a week or so after the league had decided that they were going to cancel their preseason games.  The lockout rolls on and two weeks of the regular season are now cancelled.  The two sides have been meeting back and forth and have been throwing out new proposal's both ways, but this is a major cause for concern obviously.

The sports world has had to deal with quite a few potential lockouts in the past, and the most recent was the one with the NFL just last season.  Fortunately for NFL fans, and NFL bettors alike, the players association and the league were able to work out a deal before the regular season was affected.  The same couldn't be said about the NHL, and now all eyes are locked in on the two sides to see who is going to give in first and be willing to give a little bit in order to make this work.

I've heard that the newest proposal coming from the league could be an interesting one, and that both sides are really focused on trying to come to a deal.  In my honest opinion I'd be really surprised if the two sides don't work out their deal on this before anymore time is missed, as they both realize that they could be losing quite a bit of money.  Just like the situations from the NBA lockout, you'll find that the players will quickly realize that not only can they not make as much money when playing overseas, but that they also don't have the same type of atmosphere and are far, far away from their families.

It's going to be an interesting situation to follow moving forward, but I have a strong feeling about the two sides working out a deal.  It's going to be something to keep an eye on, but here's to hoping that the players and the league are going to be able to work things out soon so that we can get back onto the ice and enjoy a good, LONG season.

We'll keep you updated on the situation and where it stands, and definitely let you know as soon as the two sides come to an agreement and we'll have some hockey again.
