NFL Preview and 5 Star Picks

We are 6-0 thus far this year with our 5 star Picks in an otherwise lackluster year. This will be another good week for betting so let’s get to it.

5 star Picks-*****

Raiders+9.5 over Falcons.  Atlanta is due to fall one of these weeks.  Oakland is not a bad team and they are rested.  The big spot is just too much.  Oakland can score and this should be a shootout.  Both teams run the ball pretty well as well.  Atlanta is just trying to win this game; they don’t care about covering the spread.  Oakland wants to win this game as well, and will keep it close.  The Falcons or any team for that matter cannot continue to play perfect football week after week.  Look what happened to Green Bay last year.  Bet the Raiders here.

Lions +3.5 over Eagles.  This is an easy one for what we do for a living.  We have a desperate team, who needs a win.  They are coming off a bye and getting more than a field goal going in to play a turnover riddled team with quarterback problems that is not as good as its record.  The Lions still are one of the best teams in the league and the Eagles are not.  The Lions have had 2 weeks to get angry and prepared for this one, while listening to the negative headlines in Detroit.  Bet the road dog here.

4 star Picks-****

Giants +6.5 over 49ers.  This was going to be our pick of the week but we dropped it a little because anything is possible in a game like this.  The Giants will be in this game till the end.  That being said, a late pick by the strong S.F. defense might tilt the scales.  Barring turnovers however, the Giants will beat this team again or at least come close.  San Fran has circled this game for months.  This will be the best game played all week.  Bet New York.

Rams +4 over Dolphins.  This is just too many points to be laying in a game that is a tossup at best and a slight edge at worst for the dog.  The Dolphins have played very well, but the Rams have also.  This will go back and forth and the reason we like the Rams here is Sam Bradford.  Both teams have a good defense and can run the ball, but the comparison between Bradford and Tannenhill isn’t really close.  Its road dog time.

Packers +3.5 over Texans.  The Packers are a desperate, desperate team.  This team wanted to win the Superbowl, and still does.  The Texans want to win the Super Bowl as well but they have gone about it in a different way by winning their first 5 instead of losing 3 of 5.  The Packers are certainly good enough to win this game and are more motivated to do so.  They are getting more than a field goal.  You have to bet Green Bay in this spot.

Seahawks +3.5 over Patriots.  Seattle has been covering all year long as a home dog.  They beat Green Bay as a dog and the also beat Dallas. This is the very same spot in which an overconfident East Coast team is going to be very surprised by how difficult this place is to play in.  The Patriots have not been setting the world on fire either.  Seattle’s “Sixth man” will be the difference here. The Seahawks want to keep pace with the rest of the NFC West.  The Pats are in the same situation, but they realize the 3 other teams in the AFC East will keep losing.   Edge to Seattle.

3 star Picks-***

Ravens -3.5 over Cowboys.  We were speaking to a Cowboy fan this week who said that they always play up to a team’s level.  That may be true but it won’t happen this week.  This is a tough spot for them.  Baltimore is one of the hardest places in the league to play.  Ray Lewis and friends will disrupt Tony Romo and it will be along day for the Cowboy offense.

Chargers-1 over Broncos.  Very big game for both teams.  The Chargers are at home and that will give them a slight edge.  Peyton Manning has cost us money before, but unless he has one of his incredible games San Diego should have just enough in them to win this one at home.  Bet the Chargers.

2 star picks-**

Browns +2 over Bengals.  Cincy played terrible and lost last week while the Browns played pretty well in New York and lost, edge to Cleveland.  Cleveland is at home, edge to Cleveland.  Cleveland is receiving points, edge to Cleveland.  In other words slight edge to Cleveland.

Chiefs +4.5 at Bucs.  Why are the Buccaneers a 4.5 favorite over anyone?  What have they done to deserve that?  These 2 teams are both young.  The Bucs are even younger than the Chiefs.  This will be a close game.  Take the points here

1 star picks-*

Jets-3.5 over Colts.  We really think that Indy has more talent than the Jets, but if we have learned one thing in all of our years is that things change week to week in the NFL.  Indy played good last week, the Jets played like shit.  This week they change roles.  Take New York

Redskins-2.5 over Vikings.  This was a tough game to find a line on because no one knows if RGIII or Kirk Cousins will be at QB.   It really won’t matter as the Skins will win this game and cover.

Bills +4.5 over Cards.  This is a hard game to get a read on except for the fact that there will be points scored.  Take over 43.5 in this spot.
