New York Giants Crush Carolina Panthers 36-7
I kind of saw this one coming but didn’t pull the trigger on betting the Giants. I just didn’t see them beating the Saints and the Giants back to back. Andre Brown got a measure of revenge over the Panthers, who waived him in the past. He rushed for 113 yards and 2 TD’s for the Giants in the win. If he can just keep it up it will help New York immensely. As far as I’m concerned that has been the only chink in their armor on offense. When they have productive rushing games they look much stronger and dominant.
Another backup that performed very well on the night was Ramses Barden who was starting in place of Hakeem Nicks. Barden caught 9 passes for 138 yards which was a career high for the young receiver. Eli Manning was solid as usual as he completed 27 of 35 passes for 288 yards. He had 1 TD and no interceptions in the game.
The Giants defense must have paid close attention to game film from Carolina beating the Saints. They shut down superstar Cam Newton, holding him to 6 yards rushing after he burned New Orleans for 71 yards last week. It was a tough night for him passing also as he was just 16 of 30 for 242 yards. He had no touchdowns in the game and was intercepted 3 times. The Panthers had 5 turnovers in total.
This game left me wondering if it was a case of how good the Giants can be or if Carolina isn’t really ready to make that next step this year. Whatever it was it was complete domination by New York last night.
