NCAA Football Week 3 Best Bets

NCAA Football predictions are exciting. Trying to find the best bets takes extensive research on a big schedule, that is why here at Ask The Bookie we will offer free College Football picks every week.

The top play for Week 3 in NCAA Football comes in Alabama's visit to Arkansas. The Razorbacks lost starting quarterback Tyler Wilson to a head injury in last Saturday's shocking 34-31 loss against Louisiana-Monroe. The loss dropped them from #8 to unranked and the line for this game moved significantly; however, at -20, Alabama can still be counted on to cover, even if Tyler Wilson plays. The Tide's defensive unit is simply too powerful for the Razorbacks to stop and their offense will improve.

Lay the points and take Bama on the road, lossing Wilson is a big blow to the Arkansas offense. He threw for 3,638 yards and 24 touchdowns to just six interceptions last year and he has completed 64 percent of his passes for 563 yards and five touchdowns through two games this season.

The upset of the week comes in the Houston and UCLA game at the Rose Bowl. UCLA is off to a 2-0 start under new head coach Jim Mora, Jr. after beating Rice 49-24 and Nebraska 36-30. Running back Johnathan Franklin has rushed for 431 yards on just 41 carries and new starting quarterback Brett Hundley has completed 69 percent of his passes and owns a 6/1 touchdown/interception ratio.

Hundley hurt an ankle against Nebraska and had to leave the game for a while but came back and is expected to play against Houston. The Bruins are ranked #22 in this week's AP Top 25 poll.

Houston is 0-2 to start this season. They lost their opener to Texas State 30-13 and fell to Louisiana Tech 56-49 last week.

Quarterback David Piland is 70-for-121 passing for 791 yards through two games. Last week he completed 53 of 77 passes for 580 yards against Louisiana Tech.

Two years ago UCLA beat then-#23 Houston 31-13 in Los Angeles, but last year the Houston held on for a 38-34 win at home.

UCLA has looked great so far, while Houston has been terrible, at least defensively. Look for UCLA to win but Houston will stay in the game. Take Houston +17.
