NCAA Football Week 1 Odds and Preview

The new college football season has finally arrived. There will be games from Thursday to Monday. Here are the odds and preview for Week 1 of the season.

There are just two games featuring top 25 opponents. The first game is #13 Michigan State hosting #24 Boise State on Friday at 8:00 PM ET. According to the oddsmakers at America's Bookie, Michigan State is a 6½-point favorite while the total has been set at 46.

Both teams feature new starting quarterbacks as they attempt to continue their winning ways. Michigan State is coming off back-to-back 11-win season but they no longer have Kirk Cousins, the most prolific passer (9,131 yards, 66 touchdowns) in school history. Andrew Maxwell will be the new starting quarterback.

Boise State's Joe Southwick has even bigger shoes to fill in replacing Kellen Moore, who threw 142 career touchdowns and finished his career as the winningest quarterback (50-3) in NCAA history. This will be the fourth straight year that the Broncos are playing a high-profile opener, having defeated Oregon (2009), Virginia Tech (2010) and Georgia (2011) the past three years.

The other game featuring top 25 teams has #2 Alabama facing #8 Michigan on Saturday at 8:00 PM ET. According to the oddsmakers at America's Bookie, Alabama enters the game as a 13½-point favorite over Michigan, while the total has been set at 45½. Alabama is the defending national champion and they have not lost a non-conference game since 2008. Michigan on the other hand is coming off an 11-2 season. The Wolverines have explosive quarterback Denard Robinson but the Crimson Tide have an edge because of their size and speed.
