More NHL Games Cancelled for 2012-2013 Season

Things just continue to go from bad to worse it seems for the NHL teams and the NHL as a whole in recent weeks.  While the cancellation of games so far had put a whole lot of pressure on the NHL and their Players Association to get things worked out, there hasn't really been much done in terms of being able to get the deal done so that we don't end up losing more hockey.  Friday night took another bad turn, as the National Hockey League decided that they had to postpone (postpone for now) one additional week of regular season games due to the labor disputes that are still ongoing between the two sides.

The announcement that was released by the NHL simply stated that they have decided move all games that were scheduled through the first of November due to the lockout, something that no one was excited to hear.  Obviously we've missed quite a bit of time already, since the season was supposed to start on October 11th, but the NHL decided to cancel the first two weeks due to the dispute, and now the latest decision that was made to postpone games is going to eaffect 135 games out of the schedule apparently.

The two sides were in heated discussions to potentiall work out a deal over the past few days, and everyone was hoping that something would be put together.  Unfortunately though, the decision to postpone more games came a day after the talks between the two sides ended up breaking apart, and now the potential for the entire season to be cancelled is a serious one.  Proposals were brought up by both sides of the table, and they both put in their input to reach a new deal, but the worst news of all is that the negotiations are apparently heading in the wront direction.

Obviously while the games are postponed there is a chance for them to be rescheduled, but this would mean that the season would have to start up on November 2nd, and that's looking like a bit of a long shot.  This is a bad sign for the NHL as they have now had labor disputes come up five times over the past 20 years.  You probably remember that the last time this occurred was back in 2004-2005 and the two sides didn't reach an agreement in time to save the year, as the entire season was cancelled.
