MMA Betting – UFC 146 Odds & Picks
UFC 146 is this weekend at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The main card features five fights that have the potential to be great and I can’t wait to watch the action this weekend. We even get to watch the UFC Heavyweight Championship this weekend, so it’s a great event to purchase the PPV card if you’ve missed the last few events.
UFC 146 Odds & Picks
• Junior Dos Santos -550 vs. Frank Mir +425
Junior Dos Santos (14-1) is the huge favourite coming into this fight over Frank Mir (16-5). Dos Santos is an absolute beast in the heavyweight division and Mir will have a hard time winning the title this weekend. Don’t get me wrong, Frank Mir deserves his shot to win the title at UFC 146, but I don’t think he has what it takes to beat Dos Santos. Junior was supposed to fight Overeem, which would have been a better fight, but Mir is a worthy opponent with tons of experience. I see Junior taking this one early.
• Cain Velasquez -380 vs. Antonio Silva +315
Cain Velasquez (9-1) is another top heavyweight that will be fighting on the main card against Antonio Silva (16-3). Velasquez lost to Dos Santos last time out and should bounce back against Silva in this fight. Silva hasn’t fought near the same level of talent that Cain has fought in his career and Velasquez should be able to win by TKO/KO. This is Antonio’s UFC debut and fighting Cain in your debut is never a recipe for success in the UFC.
• Roy Nelson -220 vs. Dave Herman +180
Dave Herman (21-3) has an impressive MMA record that might make some people bet him this weekend. However, if you look at his fights he’s only fought twice in the UFC (1-1) and the level of competition that he’s fought isn’t that great. Roy Nelson (16-7) has been losing a lot of fights lately, but he’s been matched up against the top of the division. This is a fight designed for Big Roy to get back into the win column and if he’s unable to do that he could be in trouble career-wise shortly. I’m betting Nelson.
• Stipe Miocic -155 vs. Shane Del Rosario +135
Stipe Miocic (8-0) and Shane Del Rosario (11-0) are both undefeated coming into this weekend’s bout. Miocic is 2-0 in the UFC and he has looked extremely impressive already in his young career. Del Rosario is making his UFC debut, but he’s coming off an impressive 1st round submission victory over Lavar Johnson in Strikeforce. Del Rosario is coming back from a tough injury and I think there is value on him if you want an underdog this weekend.
• Lavar Johnson -125 vs. Stefan Struve -105
Lavar Johnson (17-5) is making some noise right now in the UFC. He just knocked out Pat Berry earlier this month and he’s back in the cage already on the main card against Struve. Johnson is even a small favourite now and the value is gone on him. Lavar is going to come out in this fight and swing for the fences like he did against Barry. Struve is a much more technical fighter and I don’t think he’ll leave himself open like Barry. Johnson also took a lot of shots in the fight last month and I think Struve wins.
