MLB Who’s Hot and Who’s Not – Sept. 4

The month of September ushers in the final push towards the MLB postseason and the start of the quest for a World Series title. Through this past weekend’s MLB betting action at BetAnySports, one of the hottest teams in the Majors right now would be the Cleveland Indians with an 11-game winning streak dating back to Aug. 24 with a 13-6 victory against Boston at home to even that series at two games apiece.

Since that win as +148 home underdogs, the Indians have gone on to sweep Kansas City at home and both the New York Yankees and Detroit on the road to open a nine-game lead over Minnesota in the AL Central at 80-56 overall. Cleveland kicks off a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox on the road this Monday afternoon as a heavy -233 favorite with BetAnySports.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are another hot betting team right now in the midst of a 10-game winning streak that has them at 79-58 on the year and 6.5 games up on Colorado for the top wild card playoff spot in the National League. Despite this amazing run coupled with the Los Angeles Dodgers’ stunning 2-8 record over their past 10 games, Los Angeles (92-44) still has a commanding 13.5-game lead in the NL West Division race.

The Diamondbacks can try and close the gap even more this week in a three-game set against the Dodgers on the road starting on Monday. BetAnySports has opened Arizona as a +139 road underdog for the series opener in an 8:10 p.m. (ET) start at Dodger Stadium.

Both the AL East and the NL Central Division titles remain up for grabs heading into the final month of the regular season. Boston’s lead over the New York Yankees in the AL East stands at 3.5 games behind a record of 77-60 that includes a shaky 4-6 run in the Red Sox’s last 10 games. The Yankees are 73-63 overall after taking three of four games against Boston at Fenway Park this past weekend.

The Chicago Cubs have opened a 3.5-game lead over Milwaukee in the NL Central with a 7-3 mark in their last 10 games. They are 75-61 overall heading into this week’s four-game series on the road against Pittsburgh. The Brewers (72-65) took three of four against Washington at home over the weekend. They will face Cincinnati three times this week on the road before heading into a crucial three-game road series against the Cubs this weekend.
