MLB Games for 9/23

There are some great matchups today. Here are the games for the day.

American League

Oakland Athletics (85-66) vs. New York Yankees (88-63) 1:05 PM ET

Minnesota Twins (62-89) vs. Detroit Tigers (80-70) 1:05 PM ET

Baltimore Orioles (87-64) vs. Boston Red Sox (68-85) 1:35 PM ET

After traveling a traditional route to win Saturday's contest, the Baltimore Orioles will look to record their first seven-game winning streak since 2005 when they play the series finale versus the host Boston Red Sox on Sunday. Baltimore posted its 16th consecutive extra-inning victory as Jim Thome's RBI double plated the go-ahead run in the 12th. The late uprising gave the Orioles their 22nd win in 32 contests, but they remained one game behind first-place New York in the American League East.

Buck Showalter's charges have made themselves at home at Fenway Park, winning seven of eight meetings. They will be opposed by Felix Doubront, who will attempt to claim sole possession of the team lead in victories with a strong outing on Sunday. Doubront is tied with Clay Buchholz for the honor in Boston, which has dropped four straight games.

Toronto Blue Jays (66-84) vs. Tampa Bay Rays (82-70) 1:40 PM ET

Cleveland Indians (62-90) vs. Kansas City Royals (70-81) 2:10 PM ET

Chicago White Sox (81-70) vs. Los Angeles Angels (83-69) 3:35 PM ET

Texas Rangers (89-62) vs. Seattle Mariners (72-80) 4:10 PM ET

Minnesota Twins (62-89) vs. Detroit Tigers (80-70) 7:05 PM ET

National League

Miami Marlins (66-86) vs. New York Mets (66-83) 1:10 PM ET

Milwaukee Brewers (78-73) vs. Washington Nationals (92-59) 1:35 PM ET

Atlanta Braves (87-65) vs. Philadelphia Phillies (77-75) 1:35 PM ET

With 10 games left in the regular season, Philadelphia is running out of time to steal the second wild-card spot in the National League. Regardless of which team claims the spot, it will almost certainly travel to Atlanta for the one-game wild-card playoff. The Braves lead St. Louis by six games, and Saturday’s victory pushed Atlanta's magic number to lock up the top wild-card spot to five. The Phillies played their way back into the race with 17 victories in 22 games, but were blown out 8-2 on Saturday to fall four games behind the Cardinals.

Milwaukee and Los Angeles also stand between the Dodgers and a playoff berth. The Phillies turn to Cliff Lee for Sunday’s series finale. The left-hander will not win double-digit games for just the second time since 2003. Tim Hudson starts for Atlanta, and that usually bodes well for the Braves. Atlanta is 19-7 when Hudson starts this season.

Pittsburgh Pirates (74-77) vs. Houston Astros (50-102) 2:05 PM ET

St. Louis Cardinals (81-71) vs. Chicago Cubs (59-93) 2:20 PM ET

Arizona Diamondbacks (76-75) vs. Colorado Rockies (58-93) 3:10 PM ET

San Diego Padres (72-79) vs. San Francisco Giants (88-63) 4:05 PM ET

Los Angeles Dodgers (78-74) vs. Cincinnati Reds (92-60) 8:05 PM ET
