Los Angeles Angels (59-52) vs. Oakland Athletics (59-51) 3:35 PM ET
Seattle Mariners (51-61) vs. Baltimore Orioles (59-51) 7:05 PM ET
New York Yankees (63-46) vs. Detroit Tigers (60-50) 7:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees have seen their once-robust lead in the American League East dwindle to 4 1/2 games over the Baltimore Orioles, and an inability to win on the road and prevail in tight games are among the primary reasons. The Yankees have lost 12 of 18 overall as they prepare to face the surging Detroit Tigers in the third of a four-game series Wednesday. New York led the division by 10 games on July 18 but has since lost seven of nine away from home.
The Tigers have won six straight games overall and 10 in a row at Comerica Park to pull within a half game of the division-leading Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. Detroit is 16-1 at Comerica since July 4 and can match the franchise record for consecutive victories at home set in the 1949 season. Leading the charge is third baseman Miguel Cabrera, who homered for the third straight game and has 24 RBIs in as many games.

Washington Nationals (67-43) vs. Houston Astros (36-75) 8:05 PM ET
San Francisco Giants (60-50) vs. St. Louis Cardinals (60-50) 8:15 PM ET
Buster Posey is battering the baseball and looks to extend his hitting streak to 12 games when the San Francisco Giants visit the St. Louis Cardinals in the third contest of a four-game series. Posey hit a three-run blast on Tuesday for his fifth homer in six games as the Giants evened the series. Posey is batting a torrid .448 with eight homers and 30 RBIs since the All-Star break. St. Louis is 5-2 in August.
Allen Craig hit two homers for both Cardinals’ runs on Tuesday as St. Louis missed an opportunity to gain ground on National League Central rivals Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, which both lost. Cardinals outfielder Jon Jay is 6-for-8 in the series. San Francisco has won four of its last five games and has a 1 1/2-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West. Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera has a major-league leading 152 hits and is second in the majors with a .353 average, trailing only Pittsburgh star Andrew McCutchen (.372).
