Jaaskelainen opts for West Ham
The 37-year-old appeared in 371 Premier League matches for Bolton during his
15 seasons with the club. But with West Ham having earned promotion back to
the top flight this past season, Jaaskelainen has opted to join the London
side on a one-year contract with an option for a second year.
“After spending 15 years in Bolton it’s a great new challenge and I’m really
looking forward to it,” Jaaskelainen told West Ham’s website.
“Everything has happened really quickly. When the opportunity was offered to
come to West Ham I didn’t think twice and I just told my agent to sort it out
as quickly as possible.”
Jaaskelainen joined Bolton in the summer of 1997 and went on to appear in over
500 games in all competitions for the Trotters, while also earning 56 caps for
Finland on the international level.
